In this special workshop, Cooking with Opera’s Daniele Foti-Cuzzola
and Multicultural Language Centre’s Liliana Aguirre
will run a hands-on cooking workshop where you will learn to make two historical opera dishes; fresh handmade pasta with an alla Norma sauce, named after Bellini’s opera and the Iris, a showstopping Sicilian dessert named after Mascagni’s opera.
Enjoy the evening with a taste (both figuratively and literally) of Italian culture with cooking, good wine, opera and amazing company!
This Cooking with Opera experience includes a prosecco on arrival and an Italian style ‘spuntino’ (think Italian grazing board) before we get to enjoy the workshop where we will prepare together the pasta and delicious dessert.
We will discover together all the secrets of handmade pasta and really get to know how to create that authentic flavour. Finally, we will end with a delicious dessert. During the cooking workshop, we will have the opportunity to chat, listen to matching opera music all while sipping a glass of wine . Finally, we will gather together to enjoy this freshly made meal we prepared during the evening accompanied by a selection of Italian wines on a long table setting under the stars in the Multicultural Language Centre’s alfresco.
Guests will also take home a gift bag including some Italian goodies and a recipe card written in both English and Italian, so you can recreate these dishes again at home. We look forward to seeing you then!
