Secrets of 6008: TATIANA SHKURENKO

Article Article

TATIANA SHKURENKO

A Russian emigre with all the warmth of a solar system, Tatiana Shkurenko of her namesake Fashion Studio is as effervescent as the champagne she generously insists clients share with her at her intimate atelier just off Rokeby Road. Swathes of fabric, mannequins and show-stopping works-in-progress populate the studio, leaving little doubt that Tatiana’s artisanal approach to event dressing is Perth’s answer to bespoke couture.

Handpicked by Aurelio Costarella to craft the duchess satin Urchin dress, a special gift commissioned by Victoria Beckham for fellow Spice Girl Geri Halliwell, Tatiana is a born sartorialist who has been threading her destiny since five years of age when she began to out-embroider her own mother.

Tatiana’s sunny disposition is right at home amongst the dappled boulevards and retail-rich legacy of the 6008. Having translated ideas to patterns for the likes of local success stories like the late Ruth Taryvydas, sultry sensation Natalie Rolt and accessories wunderkind Poppy Lissiman. A custom Tatiana piece is coveted by brides and fashionistas the world over. Proving that sustainable fashion is so haute right now, Tatiana’s latest foray into eco-printing sees her create wearable diaphanous art and home textiles through the use of native flora and natural dyes.
