Activities to keep us & the little ones entertained

Being at home is exciting at the start but there comes a point where Netflix has ran out of things to watch, social media takes us down a rabbit hole of panic and walking the dog multiple times a day just isn’t cutting it anymore. After a while, we need something else to keep us entertained. So we’ve rounded up some options you can find in Subiaco that will keep us and the little ones entertained.

The Painted Teapot

This amazing little studio on Rokeby Road is now doing ‘Painting at Home Kits’! From the comfort of your couch, head to their online store and select from a range of ceramic pieces and get it delivered straight to your door along with four paints, clear glaze and instructions. Or if you know what you want just email info@thepaintedteapot.com.au or pop into the shop during opening hours. There are items for kids' and adults and it's updated daily!

Jacksons Drawing Supplies

There is something truly rewarding about creating your very own masterpiece and displaying it in your home. We all know the kids love coming home with that art project and make you display on the fridge! So while Jackson’s workshops have paused, there’s no harm going on YouTube and learning a new painting technique, then heading to Jackson’s (in store or online) to grab your supplies and spending the afternoon together getting creative. It’s a fun activity you can do with the whole family.

Subiaco Bookshop

We could all use an escape right now, and what better way to get lost in an alternate universe, than reading a great book. Whether you love romance novels, getting lost in Sci-Fi or have a passion for cooking, you’ll find a great page-turner for yourself and the kids at the Subiaco Bookshop.

Dallimores Homewares

Cooking is also a great and relaxing pass-time and with all this extra time at home, spending more than 30-minutes cooking doesn’t seem that unimaginable. Head over to Dallimores and grab some special cooking utensils, maybe some new pots and pans and you’re good to go. Make sure you grab a few wine glasses too. Wine and cooking is always a winning combination.

Table Culture

An amazing homewares store you can browse in store or online. We found an awesome Herb Grower Starter Kit at Table Culture and thought what better time to start nurturing our green thumbs than now? Grab some herbs from our local Bunnings store, add this cool gadget and you’ve got quite the project. Herbs also come in handy when you’re cooking, add a bit of parsley to any dish for a bit of extra flavour and freshness.

Australia Post

Surprised to see it on this list? Well, let us tell you about all the amazing things you’ll find here. Obviously there’s envelopes, boxes and stamps which can be used to send a snail mail letter to a loved one but there’s also games and activities there too. Pick up a big book of crossword puzzles, jigsaws or colouring books and you’ve got yourself a stimulating activity that is great for your mental health, which is super important at the moment.
