Plan a fab Mother’s Day in Subi
Here in Subi, Mother’s Day is kind of a big deal. For the past two years, we have celebrated with Subi Blooms,
a large-scale floral art trail on Rokeby Road. This year, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed things slightly but this doesn’t mean we’re not celebrating this very important day.
To keep celebrations alive, we are gifting mini Subi Blooms inspired bouquets
to anyone purchasing a gift in Subiaco of $50 or more. Find out more about that here
but in the meantime, you’ll also want to plan a very special day in Subiaco. So here’s some inspiration on how to make this Mother’s Day extra special:
Pick up a paint-at-home-kit from Painted Teapot
and schedule a time to get creative with Mum! It’s a fun activity you can do together or virtually via Zoom or another video chatting platform. Join in with a cup of tea or perhaps a glass of champagne, it is a special occasion after all.
High Tea at Home
Mother’s Day and high tea go together like bread and butter. While isolation has made it difficult to enjoy the finer things in life, high tea is still available and Eli & Matt Patisserie
are delivering the goods straight to your door and Mum’s. Their takeaway high tea box includes a mix of sweet and savouries, plus your choice of organic tea or barista made coffee.
Breakfast in Bed
Another Mother’s Day classic is the humble ‘breakfast in bed’ but if you’re not so keen on cooking - why not make her day (and yours) by ordering breakfast and have it delivered straight to her door? There are plenty of options in Subiaco, check out this list of cafes open
Discover the MasterChef in the Family
Our friends at Network 10
in Subiaco have shared their favourite MasterChef recipe that is perfect for Mother’s Day. Why not try your hand at Poh’s Strawberry & Lychee cake
? Alternatively, you can browse through all MasterChef recipes here
. Cooking is a great family-bonding activity that you can do with your Mum or something fun to do with your own kids. And a great way to discover who the next MasterChef of the family is!
Note: Recipe includes lychee liqueur, you may wish to substitute this with lychee food flavouring or leave it out.
Throw a (virtual) dance party
For those with family interstate or overseas, we can still celebrate together virtually! Gather Mum along with the whole family on Houseparty (or another video chatting app) and throw a dance party! It will feel a little silly at first but the laughter and endorphins of the dance will make the whole family feel great. Take turns picking the songs. Throw it back with some oldies or discover some new hip shakin’ beats.
Explore Subiaco’s parks
Subiaco has a range of beautiful parks that lends itself to a really beautiful day out with the family. Treat Mum to a gourmet picnic at one of her favourite local parks. For basket fillers, you’ll want to visit these delicatessens
or simply grab a grazing box from Bloody French
and for local parks, check out Mueller Park
, Subiaco Theatre Gardens
, Subiaco Common
or Lake Jualbup
- just to name a few.
