Subi’s Summer Events to Look Forward to

When we think about summer, we can’t help but think of the sun soaking into our skin, beautiful clear skies, blissful beachy days and of course, a calendar of events that cannot be missed.
Summer is kind of a MAJOR deal here in Subi’s savvy streets. We go all out while the sun comes out to play. Whether it is indulging in arts and culture or delving into the festive spirit of Pineapple Club, there is plenty to look forward to this summer.
Here are a few things that will surely get anyone off the couch and out of the house, all summer long;

Subilicious – A FRINGE WORLD Festival Hub in Subiaco

Subiaco Town Centre • 17 January - 16 February 2020
There is a bubbling entertainment hub coming to Subi this FRINGE WORLD season. Subilicious will become a hive of activity in the west end of the city with 19 shows playing across five entertainment venues. Experience a pink-themed wonderland of amazing performances, pop-up venues, a pink-themed cocktail and there may even be a unicorn (or two!).

The Pineapple Club: Mid-Summer

Market Square Park & Hayden Bunton Drive, Subiaco • Saturday 25 January, 2pm - 10pm
Be prepared to witness the leafy Market Square Park and Haydn Bunton Road transform into a one-of-a-kind festival. Featuring a selection of the best of the West, including DJs and live talent. We will be playing the end of the Triple J Hottest 100 countdown in our Listening Lounge too. The Pineapple Club was created to celebrate some of our best up and coming talent in one unique environment.

The Regal Theatre • 26 February - 1 March 2020
Join one of the world’s most acclaimed circus companies for the world-premiere of their exhilarating new show, Leviathan, created together with local circus artists, dancers and young people. Under director Yaron Lifschitz, all 18 members of Circa’s renowned ensemble join 18 local performers from Co:3 Australia, Circus Maxima and CircusWA to push the limits of human possibility in this landmark show, commissioned especially by Perth Festival.

Bran Nue Dae

The Regal Theatre • 6 -15 February 2020
Bran Nue Dae is part of this year’s Perth Festival. Presented by West Australian Opera and created by Jimmy Chi and Kuckles, this coming-of-age musical is an exuberant ride through 1960s Western Australia. A feel-good mash-up of rock-and-roll, gospel, country and blues music made the first-ever Aboriginal musical a sparkling success in 1990. The stage is a recreation of the historic Sun Pictures open-air cinema in Broome, and the costumes are delightfully nostalgic. Chi’s semi-autobiographical musical is packed with humour and hope. Summer is incomplete without catching Bran Nue Dae!

sunset@subi Murphy's Lore Concert
