Golden Aged Girls

Event Event

The 2019 FRINGE WORLD Cabaret Award winning writers of Golden Age Girls are back with the sequel, Golden Aged Girls! The funeral extravaganza business that kept star sopranos Ruth and Irene afloat for fifteen years has dried up. Now, the pressure is on for their daughters to step into the spotlight. Unfortunately, Judy and Barbara refuse to live in their mother's shadows, which reignites Ruth and Irene's deadly, unquenchable thirst for fame.

"Highly recommended for lovers of classic music theatre and admirers of clever cabaret" Stage Whispers, 2020.
"Leading ladies provide a wonderful snapshot of...the future of the Australian music theatre industry" Gutter Culture, 2019.

Amy Fortnum and Jess Clancy are graduates from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), with Bachelor degrees in Music Theatre, Classical Voice, and Contemporary Music. They seem to have the habit of following in each other's footsteps - the theme which brought Golden Age Girls to life. After winning the 2019 FRINGE WORLD WA Cabaret Award, they went on to complete a sell out 2020 Fringe season. The duo then went on to workshop their snappy sequel, Golden Aged Girls with The Hayes Theatre Company in Sydney. Jess and Amy made their professional music theatre debut together in the world Premiere of Mimma in 2019, after starring together as leading ladies Julie Jordan and Carrie Pepperidge in WAAPA's 2018 production of Carousel.
