Their Leader, Johnny ‘Banjo’ Atkinson has been part of all of this history and plays in regular appearances on the Decoy Paddle Steamer. John Healy (Double Bass) toured England, during the Dixieland Revival, with the prestigious Max Collie Jazzband. He has also played with many of Perth’s well known Dixieland ensembles. Brian Copping (Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone, and Flute) has played with The Glenn Miller Reunion Orchestra, Sammy Davis Junior, Peter Allen and the Will Upson Big Band. He is an Honorary Citizen of New Orleans. Their Jazz Journey from New Orleans to Chicago has been successfully staged a number of times, resulting in more concerts featuring other aspects of the history of jazz. Interesting aspects of this early history is narrated while the audience hears classic tunes like The Birth of the Blues, Basin Street Blues, The Entertainer, What a Wonderful World, etc. It was the era of Louis Armstrong Sidney Bechet, Gospel Music, the very first jazz record, Al Capone, Prohibition and the Charleston.
