Having spent years in the Perth music scene collaborating, singing, supporting fellow Perth-based artists now comes the beginning of a new solo venture for Jade Richards; San Solis.
Over the years, she has had the pleasure of working with a number Perth acts/friends including; Teischa's touring band, Elli Schoen's touring band, Ruby May and electronic/indie duo Junokind. After moving to Melbourne for some fresh air, a different perspective and inspiration Jade moved back to Perth and began her San Solis journey.
Described as a mash up of Paul Kelly and Stevie Ray Vaughan, Kat Wilson’s sonic brew is infused with hours spent sitting on council verge-collection furniture and playing ping pong. The music is taut, sweet and drenched in the azure of the WA coastline that is a core part of Wilson’s heritage. Add to that lyrics that come from a sharp observational eye and speak with a poet’s knack for creating meaning out of the ordinary, and you begin to get a sense of just what Wilson is capable of.
Kat Wilson’s unique and beguiling voice is entirely her own, no comparisons will prepare you for her sound. Her songs effortlessly fuse pop with coastal blues and just a dash of folk, along with the ability to shred on her guitar with the best of them. Know this, and you may just come close to understanding what Kat Wilson was put on Earth to do.
- "The vocal haunts of Kat can be likened to taking a plunge into a wintery sea: bone-chilling but utterly refreshing.” - Joe Harris, Tone Deaf
- “When Kat Wilson took the stage, it didn’t seem right for her to give it back.” - The Music.
- “And then there's the voice. It's dreamy and ethereal, it sounds like summer, and Wilson has the lyrical sensibilities to put it to use telling the sort of observational stories that make you feel like she's singing about and to you.” - Around the Sound.
After spontaneously quitting their jobs and packing everything into a van in April 2019, ray-of-sunshine duo 'Sunday Lemonade' covered over 70,000 kms spreading their infectious joy, laughter and feel-good melodies with ears all across Australia.
The pair put all their energy into organising nation wide tours to iconic venues such as Hotel Brunswick, The Northern & Solbar, featuring on festival line ups such as Nannup Music Festival (WA) where they took out the Industry voted ‘Emerging Artist’ 2020 Award and even squeezing in time to gather crowds busking the cheery Byron Bay streets! But wait, there's more. Tyson & Laura also released two limited edition 4-track, self-recorded, eco-concious live demo CD's, all within the first 18 months as a band!
Although 2020 had other plans for the world, independent artists 'Sunday Lemonade' show no signs of slowing down! They have been using time off the road to organise & host 'Stream Culture' a non-stop 5 hour online festival, performing at their own live streaming events and of course further developing their sound - all stemming from a chopping board and delicious vocal harmonies.
