Gather round, flower lovers: Subi Blooms is joining forces with Gather: A Floral Community to bring WA the most spectacular showcase of floral artistry.
Western Australia’s biggest floral event is returning this Mother’s Day weekend, transforming the streets of Subi into a captivating wonderland of colour, fragrance and sensation.
For the first time ever, a unified theme will connect the work of 17 of Perth’s most talented florists. The chosen theme for this year is Roots to Bloom, inviting florists to explore and express their cultural, spiritual, and physical connections to the world, while reflecting on the deeper bonds that link us to nature and our heritage.
“The theme ‘Roots to Bloom,’ celebrates the full journey of growth as echoed through nature,” said Rebecca Const, co-founder of Gather – A Floral Community, co-organisers of this year’s event. “It honours where we come from, while embracing the beauty of where we are going. The theme is a reflection of resilience, transformation, and the connections that shape us.”
Set against the vibrant backdrop of Subiaco’s thriving centre, the floral trail will transform the streets and local shopfronts into a living canvas of colour, creativity, and culture.
This year’s show-stopper will be a large-scale, interactive installation titled REFLECT, by nationally acclaimed artist ACID.FLWRS, which will transform Seddon Street into a multi-sensory floral dreamscape. This immersive triptych of public art invites us to interact with the world around us in new and exciting ways, stepping inside to reflect or taking part in a nostalgic childhood game. REFLECT will be unveiled ahead of the festival and on display from Friday 25 April to Sunday 25 May.
Subi Blooms x Gather will feature exciting new attractions including a fresh flower vending machine and a curated events program. The newly introduced Gather Village is also a must-visit, boasting exclusive festival merchandise, fresh flowers for sale, and a vibrant pop-up food hub where you can savour delicious food and drinks.
As always, sustainability is a key element of Subi Blooms and for the first time ever the festival is going foam-free, eliminating harmful floral foam from all installations. Florists will be using Sideau, an eco-friendly, compostable alternative. To further support the festival’s sustainability initiatives, at weekend’s end all remaining blooms will be repurposed into beautifully curated bouquets, which will be gifted to new and expectant mothers at King Edward Memorial Hospital and St John of God, Subiaco.
