There’s something special about a Saturday night in Subiaco. A wander through the market, something delicious to eat, a drink with friends and, this spring, live jazz under the stars.
We’re teaming up with the Perth International Jazz Festival to bring five free nights of live music to Subi Night Market.
From soulful vocals and lively swing to Brazilian bossa nova and contemporary jazz, each week brings a different sound to Market Square.
Pick up dinner from your favourite food stall, find a spot on the grass and settle in for an evening of good music, good company and spring nights in Subiaco.
The line-up
Saturday 26 September | Holmes / Susnjar / Berkmann
Three of Perth’s leading jazz musicians open the series with an evening of original music, creative arrangements and improvisation. Expect plenty of musical chemistry from pianist Russell Holmes, drummer Daniel Susnjar and bassist Tom Berkmann.
Saturday 3 October | Laura Igglesden Trio
Vocalist Laura Igglesden joins pianist Austin Salisbury and bassist Zac Grafton for a relaxed evening of jazz classics and much-loved songs from the 1960s and 70s.
Saturday 10 October | Chris Foster Trio
With soaring solos, soulful ballads and a mix of originals and familiar favourites, the Chris Foster Trio brings plenty of energy to the market stage.
Saturday 17 October | Juliana Areias – Bossa Nova Baby Trio
Bring a little Brazilian sunshine to your Saturday night. Award-winning singer-songwriter Juliana Areias and her trio will fill Market Square with bossa nova rhythms, beautiful melodies and feel-good classics.
Saturday 7 November | Josh Gray / Aaron Deacon Trio
The series wraps up with a fresh take on classic jazz standards, from upbeat swing to laid-back ballads, inspired by some of the genre’s most enduring artists.
