A New Series of Walking Tours Strolls into Subi this Summer

The best way to see Subiaco this summer? Hit the streets on a walking tour.

To shine a spotlight on Subi’s amazing local art, venues and events, See Subiaco have partnered with Oh Hey WA! to deliver Subi Art Walks, a new series of walking tours this summer. Running from Halloween to Christmas, these six immersive experiences each have a different flavour, with inclusions from family-friendly activities to sophisticated sips at local bars.

Oh Hey WA owner and founder Adie Chapman said, “I am so excited to be working with See Subiaco again to highlight the amazing art in the streets and laneways of Subi. It’s just bursting with life and I love sharing the stories of Subi through public art and connecting with local businesses. I have such a fun job!”

Anyone who’s been on a tour with Adie before knows just how much this passion radiates.

The City of Subiaco Mayor David McMullen shares her enthusiasm, saying the tours would present a fresh perspective on Subiaco’s arts and culture.

“These tours are a different way to experience Subiaco. Exploring on foot gives you the chance to take things in, experience the place properly, and discover somewhere new,” Mayor McMullen said.

“Whether you’re planning a family Halloween adventure or a catch-up in the lead-up to Christmas, these walking tours will make a great outing, especially paired with everything else Subiaco has to offer.”

The season kicks off with two twilight tours for Spookiaco, Subiaco’s inaugural Halloween celebration. For the adults on Friday 30 October, Stories & Spirits includes drinks and nibbles with supernatural stories. There’s also Family Fright Night on Saturday 31 October, featuring a hunt for monsters and spooky games, with costumes highly encouraged. Both events feature a trip to Market Square Park, where tour participants can get up close to Monsters Can’t Fly, the latest large-scale inflatable artwork from Matthew Aberline with The Beautiful and Useful Studio.

Every Saturday in November, come along to Murals and Markets for a walking tour of art ending at Subi Night Market. These guided walks do a deep-dive into the murals of Subi – who painted them, how and why. Each tour includes a drink and some also provide the opportunity to meet with a real muralist – so have your burning questions prepared!

Also in November is the new Shenton Park Gallery Experience. A guided tour of three very different art galleries on the edge of Subi, this experience (offered on 15 and 22 November) will challenge what you think you know about art and is expected to sell out.

December brings the Festive Sundowner to catch up with friends pre-Christmas. A combined art and bar crawl offered on 2, 9 and 16 December, this is a low-effort, big-impact event perfect for sharing with your friend group or work crew.

From mid-week summer strolls to weekend sundowners, the program is packed with tours to suit every style and itinerary. Book yours today, and keep a look out for more tours to be announced.

Tickets are limited. Click here to browse the program and book before it’s too late.
