What is Spookiaco?
Spookiaco is Subiaco’s Halloween festival, transforming the town centre into a place of curiosities, creativity and Halloween fun from 30 October to 1 November 2026. Expect larger-than-life monsters, immersive laneways, walking tours, family activities, themed food and drinks, and plenty of surprises along the way.
When is Spookiaco taking place?
Spookiaco runs from Friday 30 October to Sunday 1 November 2026.
Some installations, including WARNING: MONSTERS AHEAD, will remain on display until Sunday 8 November 2026.
Where is Spookiaco?
Events and activations take place throughout Subiaco Town Centre, including Market Square Park, Rokeby Road laneways, and participating local businesses.
Is Spookiaco family-friendly?
Yes. Spookiaco is designed for all ages, with a strong focus on family-friendly entertainment, activities, art installations and experiences.
Is Spookiaco scary?
Not really. Spookiaco is more playful than frightening, focusing on creativity, curiosity and Halloween fun rather than horror. Visitors can expect colourful monsters, themed decorations and light-hearted spooky experiences suitable for most ages.
Do I need tickets?
Most Spookiaco attractions and installations are free to enjoy.
Some activities, including the Oh Hey WA walking tours, require bookings. Details and booking links will be available on the event website.
Will local businesses be involved?
Yes. Cafés, bars, restaurants and retailers across Subiaco will be participating offering Halloween-themed treats, cocktails, events, classes, giveaways and special experiences.
How do I get to Spookiaco?
Subiaco is easily accessible by public transport, including train and bus services, as well as nearby parking options. Visitors are encouraged to plan ahead, particularly on Halloween night when attendance is expected to be higher.

Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are welcome in public outdoor areas where permitted, provided they are on a leash and under control. Some individual venues and activations may have their own rules.
Will the event go ahead if it rains?
Most outdoor activations will proceed in light weather conditions. In the case of severe weather, updates will be shared through See Subiaco’s website and social media channels.

Spookiaco is presented by See Subiaco, an initiative of the City of Subiaco.
Can I dress up?
Absolutely. Costumes are encouraged, whether you’re visiting the market, exploring the laneways or enjoying Halloween-themed activities throughout town.

What is Monsters Can't Fly
Monsters Can’t Fly is a large-scale public art installation by artist Matthew Aberline and Beautiful & Useful Studio. A collection of colourful inflatable monsters will take over Market Square Park, creating a playful outdoor experience and photo opportunity for visitors.
When can I see the monsters?
The installation opens on 30 October and remains on display until 8 November 2026, giving visitors extra time to experience the artwork after the festival weekend.
What is the Subi Fright Market?
The popular Subi Night Market gets a Halloween makeover on Saturday 31 October. Visitors can enjoy themed entertainment, an outdoor movie, face painting, trick-or-treating, market stalls, food vendors and family activities.
What are the Haunted Lanes?
Haunted Lanes is a trail of Halloween-themed laneway installations found along Rokeby Road – Rokeby Lane, Walmsley Lane, Kannis Lane and Postal Walk. Each laneway features its own unique theme, including giant vampire teeth, killer plants, pumpkin scarecrows and a spooky wedding scene designed for photos and exploration.
