If 2026 is your year to improve your fitness levels, then there’s no excuse not to pull on those Lululemons. Subiaco has a heap of new gyms, sport groups and studios to choose from.
Pronto comes to Subiaco
Inconvenient timing just became one less excuse for your fitness campaign – Pronto Pilates has arrived in Subiaco and runs 45-minute classes from 5.15am until 10.30pm seven days a week. Taking an instructor out of the equation, the reformer Pilates classes are screen-led which makes memberships a fraction of the cost of typical studios. The beautiful new Subiaco location is tucked in behind Pavillion Fresh Market by MCQ so parking is easy too. With all the hurdles removed, just sail into Pronto and give Pilates a shot this summer.

Freemove brightens Bishop Street
Jolimont’s received an upgrade via the prettiest Pilates studio, designed entirely around making visitors feel welcome and uplifted before they get a sweat on. Natural-stone clad walls, soft lighting and just a few mirrors (for form checking) make Freemove a heavenly addition to the Subi Pilates scene. Owner Tahlia Jeffery fell in love with Pilates in her own healing and wellness journey, and now loves teaching and mentoring others to help her clients feel “accomplished, capable and proud” with the signature Freemove muscle burn. Tahlia’s creating a community via Freemove with many clients enjoying a class before heading to the nearby Bishop Street Café for a coffee and a chat.

Urban Rec = sport but make it extra fun
This sporting club from Canada might just be the missing piece in the Perth sporting scene puzzle and it’s coming to Subi. If you’re sick of getting bulldozed in footy and netball with whistle-happy umpires barking orders at you, jump into an Urban Rec league where fun vibes reign supreme. This social sporting club is focused on an ‘inclusive and casual environment’ where beginners are coached and encouraged by the friendly referees. Choose from traditional sports netball and basketball, the more recent phenomenon of pickleball, or a multisport league that rotates European handball, futsal, volleyball, dodgeball and pickleball. Rope in some like-minded mates to make a team or sign up solo and the Urban Rec team will sort you out for the 10-week season. Aside from the weekly game, Urban Rec organises social outings at local businesses so players can celebrate epic goals/baskets/rallies over a well-earned drink.
Multisport and pickleball leagues are on Mondays at Perth Modern School, netball is at Matthews Netball Centre on Thursdays and basketball is at Bob Hawke College on Mondays.
